Carrboro’s Fall Ultimate League is played under lights Monday and Wednesday nights on a full-size, lined field at Hank Anderson Community Park on NC 54 West from August through November.

This is a community league, so all levels of players are welcome, including novices. We’re all about having fun, learning new skills, and playing hard.

9/27 AND 9/29 Carrboro Rec and Parks has cancelled all Fall League games for tonight due to rain and field conditions.

Weather permitting, league play will resume next week with the games scheduled for next week.

So:
-- This week's Fall League ultimate games have all been skipped for now.
-- Next week's games will be played as originally scheduled.
-- All games originally scheduled for this week will be played at the end of the season.

RULES CHANGES:

(1) To play in the tourney, a player must attend at least three of his or her team's regular season games. Players will check in with the official at the start of their first three games, and for tournament games.

(2) A horn will be used to announce the soft cap (one honk) and the hard cap (two honks).

(3) The confusing soft and hard cap rules from last year are simplified to conform exactly to the Official Rules of Ultimate (11th edition).

(4) The gender ratio and pick up / substitution rules are being revamped to ensure women get proportional playing time.

SCHEDULE:

All games are subject to being rained out. Regular season and tourney games will be made up if they are rained out. Pickup nights will not be made up.

All games will be on Mondays and Wednesdays. The first game each night will start at 6:30. The second game will start at 8:00 or shortly after the first game ends if it runs over. This slightly earlier game time than last year may mean we all get home a little earlier most nights. Each night, if the second game ends early, players are invited to play pickup under the lights until 9:45. All tournament games except the final game will follow the same schedule: more time is allowed for the final tournament game.

8/9, 11, 16, 18, 23, 25: Pick up under the lights at Anderson Park from 6:30 on. The last two nights of pickup may be replaced by team practices or supplemented by skills workshops if the captains so choose.

8/12: All self-evaluation forms must be turned in.

8/19: The draft will be held. Captains will receive details about the time and place, probably 7pm-9pm in downtown Carrboro.

8/22: We hope to announce team assignments by today.

8/23 and 8/25: Pick up under the lights (or team practices or skills workshops).

8/30 and 9/1: The first week of regular season play. Every team will play this week. Bring a white shirt and a dark shirt.

9/6: Labor Day. No league games, no lighted pickup.

9/8: Rosh Hashanah. No league games. Pick up under the lights at Anderson Park from 6:30 on.

9/13: We hope to have league shirts available by today. Once shirts are available, players must wear a league-issued shirt in their team's color to play.

9/13, 15, 20, 22, 27, 29 and 10/4, 6, 11, 13, 18, 20: Regular season games. Each team plays one game per week.

10/25 on: If regular season games were rained out, they are slotted in starting on 10/25, before the tourney.

Assuming NO rain-outs, the single elimination tourney schedule is as follows:

10/25, 10/27: Quarterfinals: every team plays this week.

11/1: Semifinals: The four winners from the Quarterfinals are paired up and play.

11/3: Finals: The two semifinal winners play.

11/8, 11/10: These nights are reserved to extend the season in case of rainouts. If the tourney has ended on time, we'll play pick up under the lights at Anderson Park from 6:30 on.

11/15, 17: We hope to have finished the season before this week, but a large number of rainouts could push the end of the tourney into this week.
